The main objective of the game of badminton is to hit a small object called the shuttle that features a rubber ball with a ring of feathers attached to it using a racket. Materials
In ancient times, people preferred the badminton frames made out of wood. The rackets made of wood were durable but heavy weighted. Now the wood rackets have been replaced by the rackets which is lighter as it is made of durable synthetic materials such as carbon fibre, ceramics and lightweight metal alloys. Today most of the badminton rackets are made using these materials.
Frame
The frame is the body of the racket consists of the head, the throat, the stringed area, the handle and the shaft. According to BWF laws, it is strictly mentioned that the length of the frame must be no wider than 230 millimetres and no longer than 680 millimetres. The weight of a fully strong frame must be within the limit of 80 and 100 grams. Frames can be of different shapes, flexibility can be more or less with larger or smaller sweet spots, depending on the materials used in it and their construction.
Head
The head of the racket is something that that holds the strings in place in a ring of material. It can be oval or more rounded depends on your choice and has holes in its perimeter through which the strings are attached.
Stringed Area
The stringed area is the face part of the racket which is interwoven in nylon or carbon fibre materials to form a perfect shape. According to BWF rules, it’s dimensions are limit to 220 millimetres in width or 280 millimetres in length.
Throat
The throat is the part which connects the head to the shaft of the racket. It may be triangular piece at the base of the head, or may be combined into the head itself.
Shaft
The shaft is the long rod-like structure between the throat and handle of the racket. It is of a composite material such as graphite. The shaft of the racket can be more flexible or stiffer based on your needs and requirements.
Handle
The handle is the part that connects to the shaft of the racket and is used to hold the racket comfortable. The handle is covered with a material called the grip which prevents from the slippery surface. The rackets are available in two types of grips: towel grips that are good for absorbing moisture and the synthetic grips that are less absorbent but more durable.
