WHAT IS THE TRINITY AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
                 WHAT IS THE TRINITY
                         AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

The question of the Trinity is crucial because belief in the Trinity is
used as a standard to determine three very important things:

   1.  It is used to decide WHICH DENOMINATIONS ARE
                CULTS.

   2.  It is used to decide WITH WHOM TO FELLOWSHIP.

   3.  And most important of all, it is used to decide WHO HAS
                SALVATION.

Briefly stated, the doctrine of "The Trinity" declares that God consists
of three persons: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit who are all
co-equal and co-eternal.  The Athanasian Creed, (AD 450) which is the
foundation of Trinitarian belief, says this:

"    "...And the catholic faith is this, that we worship one God in
Trinity and Trinity in Unity...the whole three persons co-eternal and co-
equal...He therefore that will be saved MUST THINK THUS of the
Trinity."

Nevertheless, the truth is that the three-in-one God doctrine is not
presented anywhere in the Bible.  The Trinity  doctrine was not taught
by the prophets or the apostles, and more importantly, it was not taught
by Jesus.

Historically,  the three-in-one God was not taught by a single one of
the early church fathers.  There was no doctrine of the Trinity until the
year 381 A.D., more than three hundred years after the death of Christ.
Think about that for a moment, three hundred years is a very long time.

The problem is that for the past sixteen hundred years Trinitarian
churches have cast out and in some cases even put to death those who
refused to believe in their definition of God.  Many of them say that
anyone who refuses to believe in the Trinity cannot be saved.  That is
the great tragedy of Trinitarianism; it has become the test of faith.

WHAT IS THE TRUE DEFINITION OF GOD?

GOD MEANS RULER!

Many Trinitarians have the mistaken idea that the word GOD is the
name of the Supreme being.  However, God is not a name; it is a title.

The word God does not represent a person, it represents a position.
For example, in 2 Corinthians 4:4, Paul says that Satan is:

"...the god (theos) of this world."

And again in Philippians 3:19, Paul says there are people:

"...whose God (theos) is their belly"

The Greek word "theos" clearly means something akin to "ruler".

The concept that "God means Ruler" resolves all the difficulties of a
subordinate Christ and a Supreme Being both called "God".  For
example,  John 1:1 at first glance seems to say that Jesus (the Word)
was with God and at the same time was God.

On the contrary, what John actually said in the original Greek was:

"In the beginning was the Word

                                                    3588
and the Word was with >THE< GOD

               and GOD was the Word."

                                                               3588
He was in the beginning with>THE
In that passage John twice used the definite article (#3588) when
referring to the Father as God, but did not use it when referring to
Jesus as God.

Did you notice how John carefully distinguished Jesus from His Father
by twice pointing out that the Word was with THE God.  Obviously if Jesus
was with The God, He was not The God.  I ask you...

HOW CAN ONE BE THE GOD WHOM ONE  IS WITH?

WHAT IS THE GODHEAD?

The English word "Godhead" is not used in modern translations,
however it is found in the King James Version three times and each
time it is used to translate a different (though related) Greek word.
The KJV reads:

1."...we ought not to think the Godhead is like unto Gold,"(Acts 17:29)
                                 Greek  THEIOS - godlike

2."...even His eternal power and Godhead."  (Rom 1:20)
                                 Greek  THEIOTES - divinity

3."...all the fullness of the Godhead bodily." Col 2:9)
                                 Greek  THEOTES - divinity

Godhead is a forced interpretation of its Greek equivalent.

Godhead WRONGLY implies that the office of God is comprised of
two or more beings, whereas the underlying Greek word only express-
ed the idea of supernaturalness.

Godhead simply means "deity" or "divinity". (Not God in three
persons) Actually Divinity cannot be defined - it is a quality that the
Bible assigned to Jesus.  Just as we are composed of the same material
as our Fathers,  Jesus is made of divine material, just like His Father.

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF "ELOHYM"

The word Elohiym it is a plural noun that is sometimes used as a
singular.  It is similar to the English word "moose".  Moose may refer to
one moose or many moose depending upon the verb.    For example:

The moose WAS in the valley.  (one moose)

The moose WERE in the valley.  (more than one moose)

The same basic rules of language hold true for the Hebrew Elohiym.
Sometimes it is plural, sometimes it is singular depending upon the
verb.   In 1 Samuel 5:7 Elohiym is used of the Pagan God, Dagon and
again of Moses in Exodus 7:1.  In those verses Elohiym must be
singular.

In Zodhiates Lexical aids to the Old Testament he states:

"It [Elohiym] usually takes a singular verb, so no implication of any
plurality in the divine nature can be inferred from the fact that the word
is plural."

WHAT IS A HOLY SPIRIT?

There is much confusion about The Holy Spirit.  For example, there
are three different Greek phrases that are all translated into English as
"the Holy Spirit":

 1.  pneumatos hagion  (spirit holy)     Mt 1:18

 2.  to hagion pneuma  (the holy spirit)    Luke 12:10

 3.  to pneumati to hagio  (the spirit the holy)   Mk 12:36

There is a significant difference between these terms, especially number
one above, spirit holy, which is without the definite article.  This is
sometimes a generic term for super-natural power.   (See LUK 1:35
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost (spirit holy)
shall come upon thee, and THE POWER of the Highest shall
overshadow thee:"

In the book of Acts we see an event in which "the Spirit" is an angel.
Compare these verses all speaking of the same being which spoke to
Phillip...

Acts 8:26  "But an angel of the Lord said to Phillip..."
Acts 8:29  "And the Spirit said to Phillip...:
Acts 8:38  "And the Spirit of the Lord caught up Phillip"

Study that passage and you will see that in each case it was the same
being was speaking to Phillip!

In Acts chapter 10, there is a similar account of an angel appearing
both to Cornelius and to Peter that was called "the Spirit"...

Acts 10:3 "...he [Cornelius] saw...an angel of God...saying to
him,..send men to Joppa,"

Acts 10:19 "...the Spirit said to him [Peter] ...I have sent them."

Acts 10:22 "Cornelius...was directed by a holy angel to send for
you..."

IS THE HOLY SPIRIT GOD?

The concept that the Holy Spirit is God is based on a single verse in
Acts (5:3) where it says that Ananias lied to the Holy Spirit - and later
it says that  he lied to God.  To conclude that the Holy Spirit is God on
the basis of  those verses is merely an interpretation which adds to what
is actually written.  Since the Spirit is the means of communciation
between God and man, if you lie to the Spirit you are in effect lying to
God.  Are there any verses which actually say that the Holy Spirit is
God?  Not one!

WHO IS THE CREATOR?
                                                                   1223 =  "channel"
The scriptures say that The Father made the worlds BY (via) the Son.

The Father was the master architect and Jesus the master builder sent
by the Father.

HEB 1:1  "GOD, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in
time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2  Hath in these last days
spoken unto us by HIS Son, whom HE hath appointed  heir of all
things,> BY
                        1722  = "instrumentality"
Col 1:15 "...for>BY< him [Jesus] were all things created."

                                                              1537 = origin
1 Cor 8:6  But to us there is ONE GOD >OF< WHOM are all things

                                                               1223 = channel
and  ONE LORD JESUS CHRIST >BY< WHOM are all things.

WAS JESUS CREATED BY THE FATHER?

Rev 3:14...These things saith [Jesus] the Amen, the faithful and true
witness, THE BEGINNING OF THE CREATION OF GOD.

(Even if "beginning" (Gk arche) is to be taken as foremost, or first in
rank instead of the first being  -  Jesus was still the foremost  of
creation  i.e. foremost creation of all that was created.

Colossians 1:15 [Jesus]Who is the image of the invisible God, THE
FIRSTBORN OF EVERY CREATURE.

Heb 1:5 ...Thou art my Son, this day HAVE I BEGOTTEN THEE?

Heb 1:6 And again, when he bringeth in the FIRST-BEGOTTEN
[Jesus] into the world...

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF "EVERLASTING"

Isaiah 40:28 ...the everlasting God  (5769 olam) basic meaning is "most
distant times" past or future.

Isaiah 9:6  ...mighty God, the everlasting Father  (5703  "ad") twice
used with regard to the past otherwise always denotes the unforseeable
future"  ( See Hab 3:6 - Job 20:4)

The fact that Isaiah called Jesus "the everlasting Father, does not mean
that Jesus existed from all eternity.  Habakkuk used the same word
"Gad" (Strongs # 5703) in the phrase "the everlasting mountains were
scattered."  (Hab 3:6) Obviously the mountains did not exist from
eternity, only from the beginning of creation.

The mountains were deemed everlasting, but they did not always exist.
Jesus always will be the everlasting Father of His people, but that does
not mean that he has always existed.

DOES "BEFORE ABRAHAM WAS I AM" MEAN JESUS
ALWAYS EXISTED?

The fact that Jesus existed before Abraham (and before all the worlds
were created) does not mean that he existed eternally.

IS THE "GOD OF ISRAEL" THE ONLY GOD?

ISA 45:5  I am the LORD and there is none else, there is no God
besides me

:6  I am the LORD, there is none else

Taken in context these verses refer to the God of Israel as opposed to
the many Pagan gods sometimes worshipped by the Israelites. for
example:

ISA 45:20  Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that
are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the
wood of their graven image, and PRAY UNTO A GOD THAT
CANNOT SAVE.

ISA 42:17  They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly ashamed,
that trust in graven images, that say to the molten images, YE ARE
OUR GODS.

JER 1:16  And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their
wickedness, WHO HAVE FORSAKEN ME AND HAVE BURNED
INCENSE UNTO OTHER GODS, and worshipped the works of their
own hands.

For Israelites, there was to be no God other than Yahweh the LORD.

ISA  45:3  "That I the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God
of Israel.

ISA  45:15  "Verily thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel"

ISA  43:15  "I am the LORD, your holy one, the creator of Israel, your
King.

ARE THERE TWO WHO ARE CALLED LORD? (Two Yahwehs)

Gen 19:24  "Then the LORD (Yahweh) rained upon Sodom and Gomorrah
brimstone and fire from the LORD (Yahweh) out of heaven".

According to various commentaries,  this reference is identifying two
different persons who are both named Yahweh (Jehovah).  Israelites
who were named after their Father were given a name like Judah ben
Judah, which means Judah the son of Judah.  Perhaps Jesus was
Yahweh ben Yahweh, that would explain the two Yahwehs.  Yahweh
the Eternal Father, and Yahweh his son  (See Jer 23:5-6)

PSA 110:1  The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand,
until I make thine enemies thy footstool.  (see Matthew 22:41)
The question raised here is: Who is the LORD of David's Lord?

PSA 45:6  Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy
kingdom is a right sceptre. 7  Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest
wickedness: therefore GOD, >THY< GOD,  hath anointed thee with
the oil of gladness above thy fellows.  (see Hebrews 1:8)

Who is God's God?  This is not polytheism, for mankind has always had
one God, and that God is Jesus, the Yahweh of the Old Testament.
But Yahweh Jesus has a Ruler.   Jesus is the God who was seen by Moses
and the elders at Mt. Sinai, and according to His own words,  His
Father is the God "no man has seen at any time".

NO MAN HAS SEEN GOD THE FATHER
           OR HEARD HIS VOICE!

JOH 1:18  "No man has seen God at any time."

JOH 5:37 " And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne
witness of me. YE HAVE NEITHER HEARD HIS VOICE AT ANY
TIME, NOR SEEN HIS SHAPE."

JOH 6:46  Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of
God, he hath seen the Father.

BUT, MEN HAVE SEEN THE GOD OF ISRAEL
          AND HEARD HIS VOICE!

EXO 24:9  Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and
seventy of theelders of Israel:   And THEY SAW THE GOD OF
ISRAEL: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a
sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.

DEU 4:35  Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the
LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.  36  Out of heaven HE
MADE THEE TO HEAR HIS VOICE, that he might instruct  thee:
and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his
words out of the midst of the fire.

IS JESUS CHRIST THE WISDOM OF GOD?

PRO 8:22  RSV  [Wisdom speaking]  The LORD created >ME< at the
beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old.

8:25 Before the mountains had been shaped before the hills I was
brought forth...

Jesus IS the Wisdom of God...

1CO 1:24  But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks,
Christ the power of God, and THE WISDOM OF GOD.

LUK 11:49  Therefore also SAID THE WISDOM OF GOD, I will
send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and
persecute:

Justin Martyr

"I shall give you another Testimony, my friends," said I, "from the
Scriptures, that God begat before all creatures a Beginning, [who was] a
certain rational power [proceeding] from Himself who is called by the
Holy Spirit,
  now the Glory of God,
  now the Son,
  again Wisdom,  <<<
  again an angel
  then God,
  and then Lord and Logos...

...The Word of Wisdom who is Himself this God begotten of the Father
of all things...will bear evidence to me when He speaks BY SOLOMON the
following:...The Lord made me the beginning of His ways for His works.
From everlasting He established me in the beginning before He has made
the earth...

[the author quotes Proverbs 8:22-36  and then says:

"But this Offspring which was truly brought forth from the Father was
with the Father before all creatures, and the Father communed with Him;
even as the SCRIPTURE BY SOLOMON has made clear, that HE
WHOM  SOLOMON CALLS WISDOM, was begotten as a
Beginning before all His creatures,"

Justin Martyr, Dialogue With Trypho, Ante Nicene Fathers, T&T Clark
 chapters 61 and 62

If Jesus is the Wisdom of Proverbs 8 as Justin demands, then Jesus was
"made by the Lord"...

"The Lord created me [Wisdom] at the beginning of His work."  (Pro 8:1)

DOES "YE SHALL DIE IN YOUR SINS" REFER TO
 NON-TRINITARIANS?

Some Trinitarians try to force John 8:24 (below) to mean that if one
does not believe that Jesus is God Almighty (I am he) one will die in
their sins.  However, when that verse is placed in its context,  it is clear
that he meant that if one did not believe that he was the light of the
world sent by the Father, they would die in their sins.

JOHN 8:12  Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light
of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall
have the light of LIFE.

8:24  I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye
believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

8:26  I have many things to say and to judge of you: but HE THAT
SENT ME is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have
heard of him.

8:27  They understood not that he spake to them of THE FATHER.

DOES 1 JOHN 5:7 TEACH THE TRINITY?

"For there are three that bear record in heaven,
The Father, The Word, and the Holy Ghost:
                 and these three are one."

This verse in the King James Version is omitted from most translations
because the text is not found in Greek manuscripts older than the
sixteenth century.   F. F. Bruce stated:

"The words omitted [1 John 5:7] were no part of the original Greek
text, nor yet of the Latin Vulgate in its earliest form.  They first appear
in the writings of a Spanish Christian leader named Priscillian, who was
executed for heresy in AD 385, later they made their way into copies of
the Latin [Roman Catholic] text of the Bible.  When Erasmus prepared
his printed edition of the Greek Testament, he rightly left those words
out, but was attacked for this by people who felt that the passage was a
valuable proof-text for the doctrine of the Trinity.  He replied (rather
incautiously) that if he could be shown any Greek manuscript which
contained the words, he would include them in his next edition.
Unfortunately, a Greek manuscript not more than some twenty years
old was produced in which the words appeared:  they had been
translated into Greek from LATIN.  Of course, the fact that the only
Greek manuscript exhibiting the words belonged to the sixteenth
century was in itself an argument against their authenticity, but
Erasmus had given his promise, and so in his 1522 edition he included
the passage."

IS JESUS THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY?

Following are verses in the book of Revelation which refer to God
Almighty, the God who was, is, and is to come: the Eternal Father .

REV 1:8  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith
the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Note:    In this verse The Almighty is the one who "saith" that Jesus is
the Alpha and Omega.  To make it easier to understand simply put the
subject first and it reads:

The Lord, which is and was and is to come, the Almighty, saith:
"I  [Jesus]am the Alpha and  the Omega."

i.e. Jesus is saying that The Amighty Father "saith" that Jesus is the
Alpha and Omega.  (The Greek  wordfor "saith" is lego (3004)
present, active, indciative, which means that it is a statement of
fact, being declared by the subject of the sentence.)

THE ALL-MIGHTY GOD WHO SITS ON THE THRONE IS THE
FATHER - NOT THE LAMB

REV 4:2  And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne
was set in heaven, and >ONE< sat on the throne.  [The Lord God
Almighty]

REV 4:8  And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him;
and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night,
saying, Holy, holy, holy, *Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is
to come.*

9  And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to *HIM*
that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,

10  The four and twenty elders fall down before *HIM* that sat on the
throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their
crowns before the throne,

17  Saying, We give thee thanks, *O Lord God Almighty, which art, and
wast, and art to come;* because thou hast taken to thee thy great power,
and hast reigned.

REV 21:22  And I saw no temple therein: for the *Lord God Almighty*
AND the Lamb are the temple of it.  [The Father, God Almighty is
clearly distinguished from Jesus, the Lamb]

               THE LAMB

THE ALPHA AND THE OMEGA
THE FIRST AND THE LAST                           =      JESUS CHRIST
THE BEGINNING AND THE ENDING

REV 1:11  [Jesus]Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last:
and, what thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven
churches which are in Asia;

REV 1:17  And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid
his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the
last:

18  I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for
evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

REV 2:8  And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These
things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;

REV 21:6  And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the
beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain
of the water of life freely.7  He that overcometh shall inherit all things;
and I WILL BE HIS GOD, and he shall be my son.

REV 22:13  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first
and the last....16  I JESUS have sent mine angel to testify unto you
these things in the  churches. I am the root and the offspring of David,
and the bright and  morning star.

JESUS WAS THE FIRST AND LAST GOD FORMED!

ISA 43:10  Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant
whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand
that I am he:
before me there was no God formed,   neither shall there be after me.
                              the First              &             the Last

ISA 44:6  Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer
the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me
there is no God.

ISA 44:8  Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that
time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God
beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

IF THERE IS A MOST HIGH GOD, THERE MUST BE A GOD
LESS HIGH!

MAR 5:7  And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do
with thee, Jesus, thou SON OF THE MOST HIGH GOD? I adjure thee
by God, that thou torment me not.

LUK 1:32  He shall be great, and shall be called the SON OF THE
HIGHEST: and the Lord God shall give unto >him father David:

LUK 1:35  And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost
shall come upon thee, and the POWER OF THE HIGHEST shall
overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of
thee shall be called the Son of God.

LUK 6:35  But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping
for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the
children of THE HIGHEST: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to
the evil.

REVELATION CHAPTER FOUR
HERE THERE IS ONE ON THE THRONE - THE LORD GOD
ALMIGHTY

REV 4:1  After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in
heaven: and  the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet
talking with me;  which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee
things which must be  hereafter.  2  And immediately I was in the spirit:
and, behold, a throne was set in  heaven, AND >ONE< SAT ON THE
THRONE .  3  And HE that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a
sardine stone: and  there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight
like unto an emerald.

8  And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they
were  full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying,  Holy,
holy,  holy, LORD GOD ALMIGHTY,WHICH WAS AND IS AND
IS TO COME.

9  And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to HIM
THAT SAT ON THE THRONE, who liveth for ever and ever,  10
The four and twenty elders fall down before HIM that sat on the
throne, and worship HIM that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their
crowns before  the throne,...

REVELATION CHAPTER FIVE
HERE THERE ARE TWO - GOD ALMIGHTY AND THE LAMB

REV 5:1  And I saw in the right hand of >HIM< THAT SAT ON THE
THRONE a book  written within and on the backside, sealed with
seven seals. 2  And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice,
Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? 3  And
no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to
open the book, neither to look thereon. 4  And I wept much, because
no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look
thereon. 5  And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: BEHOLD,
THE LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH, the Root of David, hath
prevailed to open the book, and to  loose the seven seals thereof.

6  And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four
beasts,  and in the midst of the elders, STOOD A LAMB as it had been
slain, having  seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of
God sent forth  into all the earth.

7  And he came and took the book out of the right hand of *HIM* THAT
SAT ON THE THRONE. 8  And when he had taken the book, the four
beasts and four and twenty elders  fell down before the LAMB, having
every one of them harps, and golden vials  full of odours, which are the
prayers of saints.

9  And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the
book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast
redeemed us to GOD by  thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue,
and people, and nation; 10  And hast made us unto our God kings and
priests: and we shall reign on  the earth.

11  And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the
throne  and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten
thousand times  ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;  12  Saying
with a loud voice, Worthy is the LAMB that was slain to receive
power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and  blessing.

13  And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under
the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I
saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, BE UNTO *HIM*
THAT SITTETH UPON THE THRONE, and UNTO  THE  LAMB
for ever and ever.

THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY IS NOT THE LAMB!
