When they brought Jim Wilson's broken body into the Santa Rosa hospital the doctors gave him between 0 and 1% chance of survival. Today he is well on the road to recovery. You can read about his story at the Keep and Share account his relatives set up in just minutes after his horrific accident last September:
(it's a public share site, so feel free to click through and see his story)
In the first days after his accident, Jim's family welcomed the concerned inquiries of scores of friends and family, but the family was also close to overwhelmed by the responsibility of communicating to all those concerned and prayerful supporters. So one of Jim's nieces created a Keep and Share account titled 'JimWilson', where she created a simple share page where she could post one new paragraph every day giving the latest news. Instead of calling or emailing for news, friends were told to simply go to the Keep and Share account.
This site shows the remarkable capabilities of Keep and Share to easily share information:
- The share page was created using Keep and Share's built in editor using simple tables to lay out information.
- The links on the share page make it easy for visitors to click through to documents in the account.
- The site includes a number of documents to record the history of Jim's recovery and to allow the community to express support to Jim.
- All the information is shared 'public' since the family wanted to get word out to the whole community as easily as possible. In essence, the JimWilson account is a great example of using a Keep and Share account to easily create a powerful website with no technical knowledge.
- The ability to post comments on documents allows the community to post feedback and messages to each other and to Jim.
If you know of any one in need of support, a Keep and Share account can give you a powerful website to rally a community, whether it's pulling together the 3rd grade parents to support a teacher in an inner city classroom, or a friend fighting a life and death battle.
