It Takes a Village and Other Lessons Children Teach Us
by Hillary Rodham Clinton (with Barbara Feinman)
Hillary Rodham Clinton, a Democratic hopeful in the 2008 presidential election, is much more than just a politician. She's a wife, mother, U.S. Senator, former First Lady of the U.S and Arkansas - and a best-selling author.

Clinton's many years of child advocacy work were the force behind her 1996 book, It Takes a Village and Other Lessons Children Teach Us. It was a best seller, and she received a Grammy Award for her recording of it. In it, Clinton focuses on the impact people other than parents have on a child's well-being, and argues in favor of a society which meets all of a child's needs.

Excerpt from It Takes a Village and Other Lessons Children Teach Us:
Children are not rugged individualists. They depend on adults they know and on thousands more who make decisions every day that affect their well-being. All of us, whether we acknowledge it or not, are responsible for deciding whether our children are raised in a nation that doesn't just espouse family values but values family and children.

Reviews:

 - The Times-Picayune (New Orleans)

"Compelling! A book about the basics, for nothing could be more basic than the way a nation cares for its children."
 - The New York Times Book Review

"Parents and non-parents should read It Takes a Village to remind them of the simple but essential point: Children must have caring, nurturing and informed adults around them...A textbook for caring."
 - The Dallas Morning News
