Chapter 3 - Play Time! Free Baby Shower Games & Printable Baby Shower Games
For better or worse, baby shower games are a classic part of baby showers. There are many fun and free baby shower games to choose from, but keep the abilities and tastes of your guests in mind before making any decisions about what games will be played. But above all, make sure the games you choose are in good taste. That way, everyone involved will have a rousing good time!
Every baby shower needs some fun baby shower games. But if you've never hosted a baby shower, you may not know just what kinds of games you should play. There are many types of free baby shower games, from action games to printable games, all of which are designed to get the party going!

Common Baby Shower Games

Guess Mom's Tummy Size: (You'll need string or yarn and scissors.)
Have each woman cut a piece of yarn or string to the size they believe would fit perfectly around the Mother-To-Be's tummy. After everyone cuts their string, compare the results to the mommy-to-be's tummy. Give a prize to the woman who is the closest. This is a baby shower classic! -
How Many Baby Items Can You Name?: (You'll need a pen and paper for each guest.)
Have each woman write down as many baby products as they can think of (bottle, blanket, pacifier, etc.,) within 3 - 5 minutes (or however long you choose). It's easy at the beginning, but toward the last few minutes, it becomes more challenging. Give a prize to the woman who lists the most baby items. Guess How Many Baby Diaper Pins: (You'll need baby diaper pins and a clear jar).
Pass around a jar full of baby diaper pins. The one who guesses the closest wins a baby shower prize. For a variation on this game, you can fill a box or storage tote with disposable diapers, and have the guests take a guess as to how many diapers are in it. Of course the diapers will go to the mommy-to-be.Guess the Baby Pictures: (You'll need pens and paper and photos)
Ask everyone ahead of time to bring one of their baby photos to the baby shower. Show the guests one photo at a time and have them write down which baby shower guest they think it is. Whoever guesses the most photos correctly wins a prize.Baby Word Scramble: (You'll need pens and paper or printed forms)
Choose around 25 baby related items and scramble the spellings of each one. For instance, bottle can be changed to otlbet. Have the women unscramble the words. You can do this by posting the scrambled words in a central location and having guests write the answers on paper or you can photocopy the list for each person. The one who gets the most right in 5 minutes (or whatever tine you choose) receives a baby shower prize. Click here for a simple form you can use.Baby Song List: (You'll need paper and pens)
Give each guest five minutes to write down all the songs they can think of that have baby in their titles (i.e., Baby Love, Santa Baby, One for my Baby). Whoever lists the most songs wins a prize.Blindfold Diapering: (You'll need a blindfolds, diapers and life-size dolls)
Divide the guests into two teams and give each team a doll, blindfold and diapers. The object is for each player to take the diaper off the doll and place the new one on it , all while blindfolded. After the first person finishes diapering, they run to the next team-mate who places the blindfold on and has to do the same. The first team to finish diapering wins!Baby Memory Game: (You'll need a tray or cookie sheet plus 15-20 small baby items, pens and paper)
Before the game starts, place the small baby items on a tray. You can use items such as a bottle, pacifier, baby sock, safety pin, baby's brush, baby oil, etc. To start the game, bring the tray into the room and place it where everyone can see it. Leave it out for one minute, and tell the guests to memorize the items that are on the tray. Then remove the tray from the room and give the guests five minutes to write down all of the items they remember. The guest with the most correct answers wins.Bottle Bowling: (You'll need 10 baby bottles and a small ball such as a tennis ball)
Set up 10 baby bottles in a triangle shape starting with one in the front. Give guests a tennis ball or other small ball, and have them try to knock down all 10 "pins". The person who knocks down the most bottles wins.Pack Your Bags: (You'll need a diaper or tote bag plus baby items)
Have guests compete to see who can pack a diaper bag with the baby items provided in the shortest amount of time.Baby Food Guess: (You'll need 6-10 jars of baby food, pens and paper)
Remove the wrappers from each baby food jar and then number the jars. Have the guests try to guess the food. Whoever guesses the most foods correctly wins.Mystery Guess: (You'll need baby items and brown paper bags)
Place baby-related objects in brown paper bags and then pass them around. Remember: the more unique the item, the more interesting the game becomes. Have each guest write down what they think is in the bag. Remember - they can feel the bag, but they cannot open it! Whoever has the most correct answers wins.Pins in Rice: (You'll need small safety pins, uncooked rice and a blindfold)
Place about 50 small safety pins in a bowl of uncooked rice. One at a time, blindfold each guest and have them pick out as many safety pins as they can in 30 seconds. The one with the most pins wins.Change The Diaper: (You'll need dolls and diapers)
Break the guests in to teams of two. Each team must change the baby's diaper, but here's the catch: each team member can only use one of their own hands - the other belongs to their partner. The fastest team wins!-
What's In the Diaper?: (You'll need diapers and a variety of candies, plus pens and paper)
Smash different kinds of candy (M&Ms, Snickers, Baby Ruth, Skittles) and put each kind into a diaper. Then pass the diapers with the smashed candy in it around the room. Have each guest examine the diaper's contents to determine what the candy it is, and then write down what kind of candy they think it is. Be sure to number the diapers ahead of time so there is no confusion as to what candy is in which diaper. Whoever guesses the most candies correctly wins.

Baby Shower Bingo
Give each guest (or team) a baby-themed bingo card. The hostess will pull pieces of paper with the baby words on them, one at a time, from a hat or bowl. If any guests have that word on their cards then they mark it off with a pen. The first guest who can mark off a complete line either vertically, horizontally or corner to corner, shouts out "Bingo!" and is the winner of that game. Baby Shower ABCs
You can either do this individually or in teams of 2 or 3 people. Give each person (or team) a piece of paper and a pen. Have them fill in each space with a baby related item or term (or pregnancy related term) that starts with that letter. Give everyone 3 or 5 minutes to fill in the list.
