Add Birthdays & Repeating Events

The 'Repeat' button is in the Calendar button bar:

Clicking on 'Repeat' opens a dialog that easily adds "repeating events" such as birthdays, weekly meetings and the like to your calendar:

The Repeating Event dialog allows you to edit existing and define new events:

  1. Type or edit the name & description in the text box.
  2. Choose a color for the event by clicking on the colored dots.
  3. Click on the left side to choose whether the event repeats annually, monthly, weekly or daily.
  4. Choose Starting and Ending dates by clicking on the small calendar icons.
  5. Click 'Save'

Monthly Repeating Events: if you choose a monthly repeating event, you can indicate if the event repeats on a fixed date (such as the '10th') or if it repeats on a fixed day (such as the '2nd Tuesday'). Both the 'date' and 'day' options use the 'Starting on' date field that is immediately above.

To edit an existing repeating event, click on the underlined event in your calendar.

User Tips:

  • To define a weekly event, e.g., 'every Tuesday', click on 'Weekly' on the left side and choose a 'Starting on' date that is a Tuesday. Change the '1' in 'Every 1 Week' if you want the even to repeat every 2 or 3 weeks.
  • IE 6 Users: when you chose the interval on the left side, the 'radio buttons' will not work in IE 6. You will have to click on the text labels (e.g., click right on 'annually', or right on 'monthly', etc.). We strongly recommend you upgrade to IE 7.
  • You might like to pick certain colors for certain types of events, e.g., pick green for all birthdays, pink for all school-related events, etc.
  • If you have an 'exception' to the rule for your event -- e.g., if your bowling team meets every Thursday for the next 7 weeks but then skips a week and then starts meeting again, just create 2 repeating events: one this Thursday for 7 weeks, and another repeating event starting at week 9 and continuing forward.
  • KeepandShare currently does not support repeating monthly events such as 'first Monday' or 'Third Thursday' of the month. But one can enter all 12 months of an event in less then a minute by entering the event, copying its text, and then clicking the orange "Next Month" button to quickly go to the next month and paste the event again and again.
