Creating New Documents

To create a blank word processing document:

  1. Click on 'File' in the left panel.
  2. Click on 'New Document' either on the blue bar or under a folder name on the right.
  3. The New Document dialog will appear.
  4. Click the large green 'New Word Processor Document' button.

Creating Other Kinds of Documents

The New Document dialog gives you a number of options. Notice that the dialog has two tabs at the top. You will mostly work in the 'New Document' tab; use the 'Manage Stationery' tab to control your stationery list.

The left-side 'Documents' panel lists the blank documents you can create:

  • New Word Processor Document: a full featured web word processor (this is the same as the large green button).
  • New Smartphone Document: a 'plain text' (pure ASCII) document editor, useful for short notes and compatible with any smart phone browser. Use this option if you want to be able to edit your document on your iPhone or Android or iPad.
  • New Table Document: 'Tables' are powerful online databases with dozens or thousands of rows of information. Ideal for rosters, lists, inventories... any kind of information you want to organize into rows (learn more).
  • Import Table Document: Choose this option to import a .CSV file to create a new Table document.

Stationery

The right-side 'Stationery' panel lists reusable 'stationery': click on one of these to create a new copy of that pre-formatted document.

Stationery documents are documents that already have some structure and formatting to them. Think of them as reusable templates. They are a good way to quickly create certain types of documents without having to create them from scratch. Scroll through the list on the right and try a few by clicking on them. Learn how to create and use your own stationery.

At the top of the right-side 'Stationery' panel are two choices:

  • Show KeepandShare Stationery: displays a list of KeepandShare's built-in stationery.
  • Show My Stationery: displays your own customized list of stationery documents. Click on the 'Manage Stationery' tab at the top of the dialog to customize your list.
