Credit Links

Avoiding Credit Links

If you upgrade your account to a paid plan level, you are not required to place a credit link on your home page. This is the easiest way to satisfy our 'credit link requirement'.

What do we mean by 'home' page? Home page is the page displayed when just your domain name is entered. It is not just an "index" page. For instance, www.example.com/staff/index.html is not the home page of the domain 'example.com'. The necessary home page would be what comes up when just the domain "www.example.com' is entered into a browser.
What if I use a site builder service? Many customers like to use various site builder sites such as "yolasite.com", "weebly.com", "vistaprint.com" etc. The customer's own website shows up as a "sub domain" in this form: "customerwebsite.yolasite.com". This is a problem, because it does not meet our home page requirements. If you are using a site building service that only gives you a sub domain, then you should upgrade your account to paid account status, thereby removing the credit link requirement.

Why are Credit Links Required?

We can offer free KeepandShare accounts because we keep our marketing costs low by gaining new customers through referrals and 'word-of-mouth' advertising. As you know, on the web, links are the equivalent of 'word-of-mouth'.

To continue to keep our marketing costs low, all web pages that embed a KeepandShare <iFrame> embeddable must have a credit link on that same page. If you have a free KeepandShare account, our Terms of Service require that you include a single, short 'credit link' on the home page of the website into which you embed KeepandShare (e.g., embed a KeepandShare calendar, photo album, document or other KeepandShare item).

KeepandShare regularly checks all web pages for credit link compliance. If the web page does not have a required credit link, the account owner is sent warning emails and finally a warning pop-up is displayed over the embeddable.

Credit links point to a KeepandShare page and include a specific anchor text that you should not change. The credit link is included in your embed code. You are permitted to place the credit link anywhere on your home page - so long as the credit link is human readable.

Here is a sample credit link:

KeepandShare.com(R)  Calendar

Compelling Benefits of Premium Accounts: only Premium accounts allow you to attach hyperlinks to calendar events and allow your website visitors to send you Calendar Requests to submit suggested event and appointment to you, for your consideration to add to your online calendar.

Rules

  1. If you have a current paid KeepandShare subscription you do not need to have a credit link (Click here for details on pricing for paid subscriptions). Any level of paid subscription suffices to obviate the credit link requirement.
  2. Credit link must be on the home page of the website with the KeepandShare <iFrame> embeddable.
  3. Credit links must be human readable.
  4. You must not change the URL destination, title or anchor text of the credit link.
  5. You may change the color and text size so long as the result is easily human readable.
  6. You may place the credit link anywhere on your home page so long as it is human readable.
Only 1 Credit Link is Necessary: If you embed multiple KeepandShare items on multiple pages from your website, you need post a single credit link on your home page.
No Run-of-Site Embedding: you are not allowed to repeat the same KeepandShare embedded item on more than one page of your website. E.g., do not place KeepandShare embeddeds in your site template so KeepandShare appears on every page of your site -- this is not allowed.

Trouble Shooting

If KeepandShare's automatic verifier is not recognizing your credit link, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure your credit link is on your home page, that's the page that appears when your domain name only is entered into the web browser.
  2. If your credit link is on your home page and the verifier still does not recognize your credit link, email us at support@keepandshare.com and tell us the URL of your home page and your KeepandShare account name and we will help you get your credit link verified.

If Your Site is in Test Mode

It's fine to be in test mode for as long as you want. You can just ignore any warning emails you receive - nothing bad will happen. After several warnings, a small notice box will appear over your calendar or item that is embedded. The warnings are sent by an automated system (there is no way we can have humans visit the thousands of websites using our embedables).

Pick Any One of These Credit Links

The following are the current credit links. If you already have a different credit link than these, but that was provided by KeepandShare, that is fine to keep. We occasionally change our inventory of current credit links. But you can also feel free to change your current link for one of the below at any time.
