Embed Docs

See this page on URL links to KeepandShare documents if you want a URL link pointing to your document or file, instead of embedding the full document on your page.

KeepandShare builds in a powerful web word processor that creates and edits HTML documents stored in the 'File' tab. These documents can be easily 'included' in another other web page on any website.

Why Include a KeepandShare Document into a Web Page

Editing and updating web pages can require sophisticated web development tools, HTML editors, FTP programs and technical expertise. Once a web site or web page is created, there may be portions of it that require periodic updating by non-technical staff. By placing these portions of your web page inside a KeepandShare document, you can allow non-technical staff to edit the KeepandShare document: all edits are instantly reflected in all web pages that include the KeepandShare document.

How to Embed a Document

  1. Create or edit a document and set the document's sharing to be Public.
  2. Save and Exit from editing the document.
  3. Click 'link & embed' that is displayed to the right of the saved file name.
  4. Copy the gray 'Embed' code that is displayed when 'link & embed' opens up.
  5. Paste the embed code into your web page.
  6. You can surround the embed code with markup; .e.g., wrap it with a Div and you can put CSS styling on the Div that will apply to the embedded document.
  7. Don't forget - if you have a free account, you must have a credit link present on the same page.

Your embed code will look exactly the same except the "/doc/" might be different depending on where your document is located in KeepandShare, and the "u" number will be different (it uniquely identifies your document).

Required 'Credit Links'

We can offer you a free calendar and other embeddables because we keep our marketing costs low by gaining new customers through referrals and 'word-of-mouth' advertising. As you know, on the web, links are the equivalent of 'word-of-mouth'.

To continue to keep our marketing costs low, if you have a free KeepandShare account, our Terms of Service require that you must include a single, short 'credit link' on the home page of the website on which you embed any KeepandShare component.

Here is a sample credit link:

Printable Calendar

Credit links point to a KeepandShare page and include a specific anchor text that you should not change. The credit link is included in your embed code. Initially the credit link will appear just below your embedded component but you are required to cut and paste the credit link so it appears on your website's home page - so long as the credit link is human readable. Paid Accounts Do Not Need Credit Links: if you upgrade your account, you are not required to place a credit link on your home page. You don't have to decide right now whether you want a paid or free account - go ahead and implement the embedded calendars on your web pages. You can decide to upgrade your account at any time.
