Your friends are automatically notified whenever your information created, updated or a comment is added so long as the "Alert friends of my changes" box is checked:
This box is checked by default. When it is checked, then everyone in the share groups for a particular item (document, address, photo blog, etc) will be notified with messages in the Fresh Shares section in their Dashboard page. The notification message includes your username, the title of the item, the time of the edit, and a link to the item.
