Email & Mobile Phone Settings

The Email Settings screen provides you control over all aspects of sending and receiving information between KeepandShare and your email addresses and mobile numbers. It is not where you can 'share' information from your account with others - here is help to set sharing.

To access Email Settings:

1. Log into your KeepandShare account
2. Click on 'My Account' at the top of the screen
3. Click on 'Email Settings'

Email vs. Mobile Messages

KeepandShare can send almost all of its messages to either or both an email address or mobile phone. When we send a message to the mobile phone, it is sent as a text message, and we strip it down to its bare essentials to keep it as short as possible. Your mobile phone provider determines exactly how many characters they allow in each message and whether they will use several messages if necessary.

Registered Email Addresses and Mobile Numbers

Every account is required to have at least one valid email address. To ensure that the email address is valid, you are required to verify the address by clicking on a link in a verification email we send you. If you have problems verifying, see this help screen on resolving verification problems.

You can add as many email addresses and mobile number to your account as you like. You control which kind of KeepandShare messages go to which emails and numbers.

This account has 2 mobile phone numbers 5 email addresses on it:

In this example, the user has opted to have most message types sent to the 'force316' email, and in addition to have Calendar & Todo Reminders sent to a mobile number and one chuck.roper@gmail.com. Note that the croper317@hotmail.com email is pending verification - the user needs to find the verification email and click on the link.

You decide which kinds of messages you'd like sent to each email or number:

• Account Messages: account status information including the 'forgot account name' and 'forgot password commands', subscription-related emails and KeepandShare News emails.
• Calendar & Todo Reminders: event reminders for both calendar events and todo tasks and the 'Email This Calendar' command.
• Share Notifications: dashboard notifications of fresh shares and comments.
• Reports: reports on visitors to your account, automatic calendar backups, and when files/photos are emailed into your account.

Mobile Phone Numbers

When you add a mobile number, you can pick your carrier from this drop down list:

If you enter a mobile number, KeepandShare will send you an initial text message to verify that this number is accurate and works. When you receive the message, reply to it with the word 'confirm' to verify the mobile number.

My Carrier is Not Listed

The top of the 'Choose Carrier' menu gives you an option if your carrier is not listed:

Choose it and click 'Add Mobile' and you will see this dialog:

1. Enter your country and carrier name.
2. Enter the exact mobile email address that sends text messages to your phone.
3. Click 'OK'.
4. When you receive a text message at your phone from KeepandShare, reply to it with the word 'confirm' to verify the mobile number.

How to Find Your Mobile Email Address

Most mobile phone companies provide their customers with an email address for their phone number. This 'email address' is an address which can receive text messages for your phone - the phone company will send the text message on to your phone as a text message.

The mobile email addresses usually include your phone number and include a name for the mobile carrier. For instance, in the U.S., Verizon mobile email addresses are '3457654321@vtext.com'.

Contact your carrier and find out from them the exact mobile email address that will send text messages to your phone. Test this address using a normal email program. If your phone receives your test, you know the address is good. Proceed with giving the address to KeepandShare for your account as in the above instructions.

Limits

You are allowed to enter a maximum of 4 email addresses and 2 mobile phone numbers. These should be your emails and phones. Each person you share with should enter their own emails and phones into their own email settings screen inside their account. When you share with them and they receive reminders or notifications, they can therefore control which email addresses and phone numbers these go to, and they can also control the frequency with which they receive messages from KeepandShare.

Reminders

KeepandShare calendar events and todo tasks have a powerful reminder feature. When you create or edit a reminder, you can specify for that reminder whether you want it to go to only your email, on to your mobile number, or both. Be sure you have both email and mobile set up to receive 'Calendar & Todo Reminders'.

Findable - Can Others 'See' Your Email Address?

By default, each email address you add is 'Findable', meaning other KeepandShare users can find your account by typing your e-mail address into the 'Find Friends' search box. We recommend the 'Findable' setting because it makes it much easier for your friends to find your KeepandShare account name. Uncheck this box if you do not want an e-mail address to be used to find your account.

Email Frequency

To control the frequency of emails you receive from KeepandShare use the drop downs in the 'Email Frequency' section to select how often you would like emails from KeepandShare. Your changes take immediate effect.

You can separately control the frequency of:

1. When there are fresh shares or comments. For example, do you want to be emailed immediately, or every hour, or every day, or every week, or never, when your friends post new information for you?
2. When people visit or view my shares, do you want to be notified every day, week, month or never?
3. How frequently KeepandShare will email you regarding your account. E.g., can KeepandShare.com email you regarding news, your account status, or never? We strongly recommend you leave this setting at either 'your account status' or 'news'. If you check never, then you cannot be notified of important changes and status regarding your account.

Set all three drop downs to 'Never' if you want to completely stop all emails from KeepandShare.

Send Photos and Files to KeepandShare

This section provides the ability to upload files by email and upload photos by email

Use these settings to turn on the ability for your account to receive files and photos by email:

Your friends can use these special private email addresses to send files and photos into your account:

Email Notices of Uploads

Whenever you or a friend upload a file or photo into your account, KeepandShare sends you an email notice. Uncheck the box titled 'Email me immediately whenever an upload is received by email' if you want to turn these email notices off.
