Unique wedding programs serve as wonderful keepsakes for your guests, while also keeping them informed about the day's events - but they also take money away from your budget. With a little research and some creative thinking, you can make your own wedding programs with barely a blip in your budget.
Wedding programs are one of those little details that add something extra to your big day. Wedding programs serve a variety of purposes: they are a record of your ceremony, they help guests feel included and understand what is happening, and they introduce your bridal party. And of course, they'll look beautiful in your scrapbook - but not as beautiful to your budget.
Even though wedding programs provide useful information and make charming mementos, there's no need to break the bank to have them printed. While some couples choose to do a booklet type program, budget-minded couples are using simple card stock with a vellum overlay, tied together with a ribbon that matches your color scheme. Others are simply printing them at home (or a friend's home) on unique paper that plays up the wedding colors or motif. Remember, your guests are not going to be calling printers to find out how much money you spent on your wedding programs. They'd rather you use the money you saved on programs to help with your honeymoon expenses, make a car payment or buy a lottery ticket.
But what should you include in your wedding program? Besides the usual information such as the name of the bride and groom, the date, time and place, and the names of the members of the wedding party, there are other things you can easily incorporate into your wedding program, including:
