33 pound chinooks

33 pound chinooks

Summer of 2007.  I didn't fish much.  Had a total of two bites, two fish on and two in the boat.  One in Sooke and one in Port Renfrew.  33 lb. and 32.5 lb.

Both fish qualify as tyee.  Tyee are rare.  I had not taken a tyee in the 30 pound range before this summer

"Tyee" is another name given to the Spring or Chinook salmon, the largest of all the salmon species. The name "Tyee" comes from an Indian word that means "great" or "chief." The term Tyee is usually used to refer to Spring or Chinook salmon that weigh 30lbs or more.

This must be the one from Port Renfrew 'cuz it looks like I had a big day on the water and a whole bunch of Lucky Lager.
