File Sharing is easy in KeepandShare. All you do is give the Upload Files command underneath any folder name. This gives you KeepandShare's powerful Java file uploader. Where in the left pain you can scroll around your hard drive and pick different directories.
In this case lets come down here and maybe pick this directory here. And you can drag and drop files from the top bin to the bottom bin. We'll move some PDF files, several different excel files and a word file. Now we'll come to another directory and we'll select these two word files up here. Click on add as another way. And you can see down here now that we have a fair number of files down below.
We're ready to upload so we'll click on the orange upload button. KeepandShare is compressing and speeding the uploading of your selected files from the bottom bin up into your account where they'll all appear in that folder that we had clicked underneath. Looks like we're just about done. Click on OK. And you're now given an option to view the uploads or set sharing or do more uploading.
We'll view the uploads and you now see underneath Client Memos we have a collection of files that have been uploaded. The Floppy Disk Icon indicates that these files were uploaded from a PC or a MAC. You can see they all have the original file names and then to the right they have a date stamp.
Last step is doing some sharing. If I come up here and click on the Share box you'll see that right now a few documents in my account are shared. This one with Guest and Public the sample letter with Jackie in the running club. But these uploaded files have not yet had the sharing set on them.
I can set the sharing individually on them by clicking on the Edit button and using these Share With controls and clicking on Save and Exit. But for now, since I know I want to share all of these files it's much easier to click on the Share Folder command and set sharing just once, right there. In this case with the Blue Sky Share Group that I had already defined. Click on Update and you see that now that particular group has access to all of the files in this folder and any future files uploaded into this folder.
If you wanted to share with the public and therefore not requiring anybody to have a login before they can view or download your files, that's also easy. We'll go back into setting the Share Settings. When you choose from the groups just pick this magic built in group called Public. That means that visitors don't need to have a KeepandShare account before they view or download your information. Click on Update. You can see that now everything in this folder has been shared with the public.
As a last step in file sharing you might want to provide a link to your friends for any shared file. To do so just click on the file name and KeepandShare will display a Download Now button, which is not what you want to do, you already own this file. But they also display a link here that you can copy and paste into an email and send to your friends or better yet post this link onto any web page or blog page.
KeepandShare is a very popular way for hosting files for blog pages and web pages. That's it. Thanks for watching!
