Anyone have elderly parents or relatives they worry about in case of a fire? My mom’s getting up there in age, and I worry she wouldn’t get out fast if there was an emergency. What steps have you all taken to help seniors prepare for fire emergencies? Anything specific work well?

That’s a real concern—I went through this with my grandmother. We made a simple escape plan with her, and practiced it a couple times so she wouldn’t panic. Also installed some extra loud smoke alarms and gave her a phone list to keep by the bed. If you’re dealing with any legal stuff or need help advocating for a senior after an incident, fire damage lawyer is a good place to start. They know how to handle claims for older folks and can point you to more safety resources too. It’s a relief knowing there’s help if something ever does happen.

Preparing ahead really is key for seniors. I see so many stories where people wait until after something happens, but a little planning can make a big difference.
