Why coffee is often called “a cup of joe”?This question has been asked for so many years. And many outstanding answers and myths have come forth trying to answer it. Many theories surround this name but from what has been said nothing has been definite. One of the theories is that in 1994 there was a ban for alcohol on the US Navy ships by the Josephus’joe”.

After he ordered this, the only strong drink a sailor could get in the ship was coffee.

The angry sailors about the ban started calling the coffee a’ cup of Joe’ protesting against the ban.  There is also another story that the linguistics come up with. They believe that the term Joe comes from the name Jamoke. Jamoke comes from the Java and mocha that it later becomes a nickname Joe. It shortened over the years to be a cup of Joe

Another great theory says that the term Joe comes from the name Joe from a fellow man. This means that it comes about because the drink was for a common man. From all the theories above the Jamoke, the theory is at least what most of the people think is a bit realistic with the strongest contender with the nickname?

With that in mind, you will now understand how complicated the term is, but also it depends on the way you take it. Any of the theories explained could be of meaning to you. Don’t have too many questions regarding this cup of Joe when a friend asks you out. Sometimes they mean to have a companion while they enjoy the rest of the day. Also, it can come with wanting to catch up with the other on what has been happening or going on in their lives.

The theories bring light am to how coffee come up to be a good strong drink since World War 1. When you think of it, you will value it even more and if you find the time, get your friends out to have them enjoy while catching up.
