“Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD"

Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD …”, Exodus 14:13

Yumi Ogawa asked:  “ Is baptism the same meaning as deliverance?"

Donna writes:  When the Jews heard Peter’s message at Pentecost, they asked:
“What shall we do?”

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, REPENT, and BE BAPTIZED every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST.

1.  Repent. 2.  Be Baptized  3.  Receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Most Christians today have never repented by making a commitment to obey God --no matter what the cost. (If they were ever baptized, all they got was wet; because  the indwelling Holy Spirit is only given to those who obey God.*)

Those unconverted people have never been delivered from the power of sin and death. They have never experienced the resurrection power to overcome presumptuous sin.  So, the only way they can explain their carnal condition is to continuously wrest the scriptures and quote Romans 7.

The 7th Chapter of Romans describes the wretchedness of an unconverted man.  That spiritual condition is similar to that of ancient Israel before they crossed the Red Sea.  The LORD was in the pillar of cloud** and pillar of fire to lead them in the way.  It was Christ that led them into a place where they could not escape the power of Pharaoh. *** That was when Moses said:

“Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD …”, Exodus 14:13

So it is with us.   This is what Paul said before he was delivered from the power of his sin nature:

“O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.” Romans 7:24-25

When we are translated into the kingdom of God’s dear Son, we have the power to choose whom we will obey.  Then, we must work out our salvation with fear and trembling; because our faith must be tested and approved before we receive the crown of life.

* “And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.” Acts 5:32

** “Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;  And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;  And did all eat the same spiritual meat; And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
1 Corinthians 10:1-4
