My visit to Swaziland

I did not make a decision to visit Swaziland until about one week before I left China. I actually do not know the last time that I even thought of this county however I am so glad that I decided to make this stop on my journey. The journey began with me arriving at the Johannesburg airport with the intent to travel into the city and catch a bus/van to Swaziland. I had gotten the telephone number of a Pastor who had agreed to meet me. My first challenge was that I only had his telephone number and had no real idea of which city he lived so I had the van driver call him and found out that he actually lived in the same city where the van driver had planned to drop me off.

Pastor Matthews met me and arranged for me to stay in one of the best guest houses in town. We then went to dinner where he craved for some fish and I got alfredo fetuchini ( something that I have not had in quite a while).

On the next day, Pastor Matthews had his driver take Brother Emmanual and myself to the Culture Village where we were able to learn much about the culture of Swaziland. We were informed that this is the only country in Africa still ruled by a King. The country practices polygamy and the King has 27 children. The usual age for men to get married is 35 and women 18 and that men must still pay for the bride ( 19 cows ).  The culture village was quite an experience.

Later on that evening, I had the opportunity to bring the message to the Bible Life Church of Manzini and was truly blessed. I really enjoyed my stay there and look forward to returning one day to perhaps teach. As a side note I have since found out that this country has the highest incidence of HIV in the world and that the life expectancy is only 32 years of age on the average. There is plenty of opportunity to do God's work in this country.  For more pictures please click on http://www.keepandshare.com/photo/374242/swatzerland.
