This is it. The end of my time in Heidelberg. I leave tonight (well tomorrow very early) straight from the club at 3AM after our last hurrah here in Heidelberg. Iím going to Barcelona, Florence, Rome, Pompeii, Venice, and Paris, then flying back to the states on the 22nd.
The girls and I just had our last Wine and Dine, at the castle, at this perfect spot overlooking all of Heidelberg. It really hadnít hit me yet that this was it, this was the end. Then as we were cleaning up after our feast of bread, spread, pretzels, wine, cookies, and chocolate, I stood up and looked out at the view and suddenly it just hit me, like a wave rushing over me, and the first tears came. And I fought them back as we walked back up to the house, but then we were almost to the house and kim opel put her arm around me and they came again. In fact, Iím still teary-eyed as I write this, as I probably will be the rest of the day.
Iím in the middle of packing all my stuff for the 7th time in 2 Ĺ years. Yeah, itís getting old. Iím almost done, well almost out of room in my 2nd suitcase, and wondering how it will all possibly fit.
Itís weird because most people are going home tomorrow, and while Iím leaving here for good, Iím still traveling for 2 more weeks so I donít even feel like Iím close to going back at all.
Iím trying to imagine what it will be like to go back to the states, and I just canít. it really is a different world here. No more gyros, pastries, rittersport, walking down hauptstrasse, H&M, trains, german language, hot german guys, pubs, having wine with dinner, hot white chocalate, doppeldeckers from cafť konditorei, essig haus dinner, moore haus breakfast, castles, beautiful churches, cobblestone streets, all tall buildings, orange and brown roofs, different colored leaves, wearing my scarf and gloves and coat, nutella, bratwurst mit senf, and so much more.
As excited as I am to see all of you, and to be back at pepperdine next semester, I just donít know if Iím ready to be back in the states.
Looking forward to see you all in December and January!
