Read to Obey (Learn & Obey)

     www.equip2disciple.com

James 1:22,25 "[22] Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. [25] But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do."

  1. In verse 22 God commands us NOT just to read and listen but to do what the Bible commands us to do.
  2. In verse 25 God gives us 4 steps on how to learn and do God's commands:
    1. Look intently into the Bible
    2. Continually looking intently into the Bible, not just 5 minutes a day
    3. Not forgetting what we have read
    4. But doing it (putting God's word into practice).
    5. God promises that as we work hard at #1-4 God will bless us as we 'DO' His Word.

  6. Recommend you spend at least 20 minutes a day studying and obeying.
  7. Review the previous 6 days of applications, asking God to help you do them, so that you don't fall into the trap of learning and forgetting, learning and forgetting.
