2 c. flour
2/3 c. Baking Cocoa
1 tsp. baking powder
1 t. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. (11/2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
1 3/4 c. granulated sugar
2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 c. water
 
Preheat oven to 350.  Grease and flour 2 9 " round baking pans or 1 13x9 baking pan.
 
Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in medium bowl.  Beat butter, sugar, and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy.  Add eggs one a at time, beating well after each addition.  Graduallly beat in flour mixture alternately with water.  Spread into prepared pan(s).   Bake 25-35 min. our toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.  Cool in pan for 15 min.; invert onto wire racks to cool completely. Serves 10-12
 
Frost with Chocolate Lover's Frosting
 
3 c. sifted powdered sugar, divided
2/3 c. Baking Cocoa
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened
5 -6 TB. milk, divided
1 tsp. Vanilla extract
Beat 1 c. powdered sugar, cocoa, butter, 2 TB. milk and vanilla in small mixer bowl until creamy.  Gradually beat in remaining sugar and milk until smooth.  Makes 2 cups.
