EXAMINATON

1. Written test of 40 questions and,
2. Hands-on practical

A certification of qualification will be issued for passing grade of 75% of both portions.  This course satisfies the training hours and examination needed for limited certification of Marine Surveyors in accordance with SNT-TC-1A, Level II, limited.  The certification will be in effect for a period of 3 years.  Recertification by examination with documented experience will be offered to meet the intent of SNT-TC-1A.  SAMS will recognize 12 educational units.

Mark Bell, P.E. is a registered Metallurgical Engineer in California.  He brings 28 years of experience in metallurgy, machinery failures, welding engineering, corrosion engineering and nondestructive testing to this course.   This course is designed to provide a Marine Surveyor the theory and practical skills to satisfactorily conduct Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UTT) to meet the provisions of most insurance and survey requirements.   Mr. Bell is presenting this course to help a Marine Surveyor accomplish a hull thickness evaluation with confidence that the reasonable requirements of industry are met and that experience and training are documented.
