"TEST THE SPIRITS"
TEST THE SPIRITS!
There can be no doubt that there are spiritual gifts from God. Just as there can be no doubt there are demonic counterfeits which are called seducing spirits who teach doctrines of devils.
Paul warned us about these spirits:
1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
These seducing spirits sometimes appear as a voice inside the head or less often as an audible voice from without which pretend to be Jesus. People who want to love God and be close to Him can be easily deceived by these spirits as they desire with all their heart for the voice to be real. To them the voice is God Himself and therefore are hesitant or even afraid to test these spirits.
These seducing spirits are often accompanied by a physical manifestation such as a tingling in the flesh, a distinctive odor like flowers or warm feelings in the body which are a demonic confirmation that God is near and communicating with them.
There can also be more than one voice – one that represents God and the other recognizable as a demonic voice. The victim believes that they are able to distinguish the good from the evil and thus feel safe trusting the voice they think is the voice of God. But both voices are produced by demons. This deception is very effective for those who become suspicious and want to test the spirits.
However the Biblical key to testing the spirits is the Ten Commandment law of God. The Spirit of God will never contradict the law of God. Any spirit which teaches us to break any of the commandments for any reason is not from God. This test works for personal spirits and testing the spirit of someone who claims to be a teacher who knows God.
John wrote:
1 John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
I know from experience that the only way people who are being tricked by demonic spirits and think they are talking to God can be delivered from this powerful deception is when something happens that causes them to doubt their experience. Until then they refuse to question – and may even think it is blaspheming the Spirit to not trust the voice of God.
