THE GOOD GROUND THAT BEARS FRUIT
Matthew 13:23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and UNDERSTANDETH IT; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.
QUESTION: what is understanding according to the scriptures?
ANSWER:
1. " ... Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and TO DEPART FROM EVIL IS UNDERSTANDING.” Job 28:28 (KJV)
2. "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: A GOOD UNDERSTANDING HAVE ALL THEY THAT DO HIS COMMANDMENTS …" Ps 111:10 (KJV)
James tells us that if we lack wisdom, we must ask God for it:
"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally and upbraided not; and it shall be given him." James 1:5
Wisdom and understanding lead men to the genuine faith in Christ that is required for eternal life. That faith has the power to change us from a sinful past to a new life of holiness.
