Matthew 28:19-20
Matthew 28:19-20

Three commands

1st make disciples of all nations
2nd by: baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and
3rd by: teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

Both obeying and teaching the commands are crucial.  "but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven"  Matthew 5.19

God tests you to see if you will keep his commands.  "Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. 3 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD"  Deuteronomy 8.2-3

Only those who obey will have God's blessing.  "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."  Matthew 7.24-27

Need to teach each disciple to do this: "But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does."  James 1.25
