Cover Letter
Greetings,
This letter pertains to my interest in performing in your production. My previous training as an actress, as well as my experience in film and theatre make me an ideal match for this position.
I obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performing Arts from Savannah State University. While working towards my degree, I took many classes that contributed to the development and refinement of my acting skills. These classes include (but are not limited to) Acting for the Camera, Directing, and Classical Acting. You can find more detailed information on my past education and training in my resume.
In addition to my studies as an actress, I’ve participated in many productions. I worked as a featured extra in the movie “Birth of a Nation,” where I depicted a slave that was a part of the congregation to listen to Nat Turner’s sermon. I’ve performed a solo play entitled “No Child,” where I portrayed 16 different characters while telling the story of how the arts aids in the growth of high school students in an underprivileged school. I worked as a reenactor for a trolley tour company entitled “Old Savannah Tours” where I performed over 20 shows a day outside, despite various weather conditions. I also played the character of Jasmine in “Shattering Her Illusions” where I came out as a gay woman to my mother despite her beliefs regarding homosexuality.
In conclusion, as a result of all the experience mentioned above, I know I have the skill, work ethic, and professionalism necessary to perform in your upcoming production. Thank you for taking the time to review my cover letter. Please see my resume for more information on my work history. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully working with you soon!
