Global superstar and professional boxer Jake “The Problem Child” Paul will face the toughest test of his burgeoning fighting career when he squares against the former UFC champion Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley in the main event of a professional boxing event on Sunday, August 29 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio, live on SHOWTIME PPV.

After defeating his first three opponents in professional boxing, Paul continues to raise the bar against Woodley, a renowned mixed martial arts champion and striking expert who held the UFC championship from 2016 to 2019.

On August 29, Paul will attempt to excite his legions of supporters and quiet his detractors in front of his hometown Cleveland audience in the eight-round cruiserweight main event, which will be fought at a 190-pound catchweight.

Paul and Woodley will square off at a press conference in Los Angeles on Tuesday to promote their highly anticipated clash.

The news conference will be streamed live on the SHOWTIME Sports YouTube account and Jake Paul's YouTube channel. Most Valuable Promotions and SHOWTIME PPV produce and deliver the unique Sunday night event.

The pay-per-view broadcast starts Jake Paul vs Woodley Live Online at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. SHOWTIME PPV creates and distributes PT.

It will include a high-stakes professional boxing undercard with Puerto Rican star and WBC/WBO Featherweight World Champion Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano defending her belts against super bantamweight world champion Yamileth Mercado.

Paul (3-0, 3 KOs) is a world-renowned content producer.

He started his professional boxing career in January 2020 and has proved to be an important player in the sport's environment with his outsized personality and rapidly growing skill set. The Cleveland native is competing out of Puerto Rico under the supervision of veteran pro boxing contender B.J. Flores, who has been training Jake since his first professional bout.

After knocking out YouTube sensation AnEsonGib and former NBA player Nate Robinson in his first two fights, Paul dispatched former MMA champion Ben Askren in the first round in April.

Paul's victory against Askren was his first over a seasoned professional fighter, and he now faces a much greater test in Woodley.

“I grew up going to Cavs, Browns, and Indians games on weekends, fantasizing as a child of one day being able to put on a show for my city like they did,” Paul said. “On August 29, that dream will come true. My greatest challenge to date, in front of the city that created me, on pay per view for the whole world to watch me knock out a UFC champion. I'm also excited to see Amanda Serrano on this card. She is the most prolific knockout artist in women's boxing. What a night this is going to be!”

Fighting out of St. Louis, Missouri, Woodley (19-7-1 MMA record) has a long history in combat sports. He won the UFC championship in July 2016, beating Robbie Lawler in the opening round, and went on to successfully defend his title four times.

Woodley competed in the Strikeforce MMA organization on SHOWTIME from 2009 through 2012, with an 8-1 record. Woodley, widely regarded as one of the most dangerous punchers in UFC history, won 14 of his 19 fights via TKO or submission.

“I'm a mature man,” Woodley said. “I don't play games with kids. They took me in to take out the garbage. You're welcome!”

Serrano is the most decorated female boxer in history, with a professional record of 40-1-1 and 30 knockouts. She was born in Puerto Rico and reared in Brooklyn, New York, where she trained with her sister, former featherweight champion Cindy Serrano.

The 32-year-old has won championships in every weight class between 115 and 140 pounds, winning belts in those two divisions only four months apart with bouts in September 2018 and January 2019.

Serrano earned her WBC and WBO featherweight world championship belts in a high-profile fight against Heather Hardy in 2019, and she most recently defended her championships with a knockout victory against three-division world champion Daniela Bermudez in March.

Mercado (18-2, 5 KOs) of Chihuahua, Mexico, has held the super bantamweight championship since November 2019 and will seek to become a two-division champion when she faces Serrano on August 29. The 23-year-old won the title by unanimous decision against Fatuma Zarika, avenging a prior loss to Zarika in Mercado's maiden try at the championship.

Mercado enters this fight on a six-bout winning run, including wins over Julissa Guzman and previously undefeated Angelica Rascon in 2021.
