Beautiful scenery as seen from the castle.
 
The castle stands in the midst of Fribourg green pre-alpine foothills. Nineteen counts are accounted for in the period between 11th and 16th century. It ended in bankruptcy in 1554. The cantons of Fribourg and Bern shared this castle as its creditors.

In 1849 the castle was put up for sale and sold to the Bovy and Balland families who restored the castle with the help of their painter friends. In 1938 the castle was bouoght back by the canton of Fribourg and made into a museum.

Knights' Room:wall decoration was painted starting from 1852 by Henri Baron and his collaborators, based on Daniel Bovy's drafts to restore the castle.
 
The furniture in wood was made by Auguste Ansermot at the end of 19th century, adapted from antique models. The top os the table stands on the communion table of the Part-Dieu Charterhouse.
