08 - Anniversary Trip to Tahoe

Anniversary Trip to Tahoe
As you view this photoblog, you might wonder..."Only 3 pictures from their anniversary trip to Tahoe?"  Well, we had a few setbacks that weekend....
We drove to Tahoe on sat. morning, and went parasailing (which was much more expensive than we anticipated, but oh well.)  While out on the boat, this plane (which you can see below) flew by, dangerously low.  Our boat guides had never seen anything like it.  I of course whipped out our camera, and alas it didn't seem to be working. (I didn't know I'd actually gotten this shot until we got home).  Sure enough, the batteries were dead.  This has never happened to us before, we have great batteries.  And sure enough, somehow the back-up batteries were dead.  So, we got no pictures parasailing.  Then we went to check into our hotel, and somehow Aaron had accidentally booked it for September 27, instead of August 27.  We had gotten a great rate to stay at the Horizon casino for $55, booked through hotels.com.  Aaron spent 30 minutes on the phone cancelling that.  Then we went back to the front desk to see if they still had any rooms.  They did, starting at $99.  Well, that was twice as much as we were going to pay for it, so we decided to go look elsewhere.  But first we had to grab lunch, as it was nearing 2:00, and I get very irratible when I'm hungry.  We went to baja fresh, and they got Aaron's order wrong, and so that made him irratible, and we were not feeling very loving at this point. We drove around and tried a couple of the million hotels that looked decent, and they were of course all $99 or more.  Then we realized we must have gotten that $55 rate because Sept. 27 must be a weeknight.  So we bust back to the casino, and end up getting a room there.  We are now determined to win some of our $ back.  Aaron puts down $20 at the roulette table, does good for awhile, then loses it.  We had reservations on a dinner cruise that night.  It was very entertaining as it was full of drunk people.  older drunk people.  People in their 40s, 50s, 60s.  They were already smashed before the cruise even started.  The boat was crowded, but the food was good, and they did a nice narrative in emerald cove.  We had put some regular batteries in our camera and thought that maybe we could squeeze 1 picture out of them of us on the boat.  After almost approaching the couple that was getting engaged (oops), we asked another couple to take our picture, but of course the camera died before she could squeeze it off.  Then they had a brilliant idea, they had the same camera, so they gave us their battery and we got the 2 pictures you see below!  If only we had thought of that on the parasailing boat...oh wait, Aaron did, then he didn't share his idea, and he forgot it!  The dinner cruise had a live band and dancing, so that was fun.  Then on the way home, all the drunk people were singing:  silly songs like: mary had a little lamb, the hokey-pokey, etc.  I'm not kidding.  It was very odd.  The next morning, we are still determined to win back our $.  Aaron once again sits down at the roulette table and puts down a $20, and this time starts hitting gold on Odd.  It hits 5-6 times in a row, and I say "The first time it hits even, we're walking away." And we did, with $110.  So, the weekend was saved...
The crazy plane flying way too low, low enough that they could have taken out parasailers
Our 1 picture together.  We were of course over-dressed, in fact Aaron was the only 1 in a suit.  Oh well, he looked great!  As you can see I'm sunburned, and my arm looks huge....yikes!
Our 1 scenic picture with the borrowed camera battery
