Tutorial Focus

Alex Bogartz at Meeting 000 proposed:

A meeting could focus on a particular Blender tutorial from the Internet.

[Experiencing each other's failures and successes from everyone focusing on one tutorial at the same time would enhance everyone's level of learning well beyond any single individual's accomplishments.]

I like the idea of each bringing a tutorial that they've tried and results of that endeavor - not so much for the end result. And to Jen_b's point, I'm thinking diversity is actually good - as you never know where you'll learn something that will help your project. Just my thoughts. Currently being working through the Fake SSS tutorial posted this week and pretty amazed at material nodes.

Oh, how to choose just one star in the clear night sky? We can all contribute to a list of choice candidates for the group to choose from for whatever meetings we want to focus on a tutorial.

In addition to Blender tutorial websites, there are also countless independent YouTube tutorials, many of which would make good tutorial foci.

I like this idea!  Is there a particular subject you guys would be interested in?  Blender Cookie has so many to choose from and Blender Guru is nice too.

Yep. Maybe start out with something simple. Let's pick one quick to include it in the Blendernation news post.

To free up more of the precious group time, we could prearrange the tutorial for each participant's endeavors prior to the meeting.  Then we would have more time to share our results and experiences.
