NT: I Still Don't See

I still don't see where, in the New Testament, we are supposed to have a concern for crime and punishment, or our responsibility to do anything about civil governance. This is the Devil's world. We should expect things to go from bad to worse until Jesus returns to earth - bodily - to rule the nations coercively in a good way, from Jerusalem as the Jewish people are substantially restored to acceptance of their Messiah and being the active agents to enforce His rule for 1000 calendar years. God's concern is that we focus on appealing to the World about the substitutionary atonement of Jesus, how they can be forgiven of their sin because Jesus paid it all, they can have intimate soul-fellowship with Him both now and in eternity.

Oh, I don't know, how about from start to finish?

Mat 1:1 The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

2Sa 7:12-13 When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. (13) He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

Rom 4:13 For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith.

Messiah (Christ), Son of David, Son of Man, Seed of Abraham, and Son of God were all titles showing fulfillment of Messiah's authority in ownership and control of the earth and everyone in it. This has to include issues of crime and punishment. Messiah held three offices inaugurated by the oil poured on the head. The Prophet as messenger from God's Court to inform and call people to live and take dominion of the earth in conformity to the Law of the king, the Priest who taught and applied the law given by the Prophet, and judged the people as the court of appeals, and the King as the enforcer of the law as being a servant of God, applying His wrath in bringing the sentence of God's perfect, merciful justice on those subject to the earthly consequences for crimes as God defined them to be.

Matthew, 2nd chapter:

Mat 2:1-2 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, (2) saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

...and the end of the book echoes the same commission at the end of the Old Testament canon as first-century Christians had it.

Mat 28:18-20 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. (19) Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, (20) teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

2Ch 36:22-23 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and also put it in writing: (23) “Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, ‘The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and he has charged me to build him a house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever is among you of all his people, may the LORD his God be with him. Let him go up.’”

Rev 1:5-6 and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood (6) and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Rev 22:12-13 “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. (13) I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”
