Hey everyone! I’m looking to get into event photography, specifically weddings, but I’m not sure where to start. How do you handle the pressure of shooting such an important event? Any tips on gear, settings, or just managing the day in general? I’d love to hear from experienced photographers about how to prepare for something like this.

That’s a big step, congrats! Wedding photography is all about preparation and having the right gear. A great place to start is https://photogov.net/, which has a ton of useful guides on event and wedding photography. You’ll want a reliable camera, of course—preferably something with dual card slots for backup. Fast lenses like a 50mm f/1.8 and a 24-70mm are versatile for portraits and group shots. Make sure you have backup batteries and memory cards; you can’t afford to run out during key moments. One piece of advice: scope out the venue beforehand. Knowing where to position yourself for the ceremony or the reception is crucial for getting great shots without being intrusive. And finally, stay calm! Weddings are fast-paced, but with practice, you’ll learn how to anticipate those magical moments.

I’m not into wedding photography myself, but I can imagine how challenging it must be. This is great advice! It makes sense to plan out every detail since the day is so important. I think this will really help people who are just starting with events like weddings. Thanks for sharing!
