Guys, I've always wondered why my eyes turn red after smoking marijuana. I thought it was the smoke, but I recently heard that the reason could be deeper - related to the action of THC itself. Can someone explain in more detail what's going on and is there a way to get rid of this effect faster?

Yes, it is the THC that does the trick, not the smoke. It lowers blood pressure and dilates blood vessels, including the eye vessels, causing the whites of the eyes to turn red. If you are interested, there is an article that explains everything in an accessible way and with control tips - here is the link: https://unitedrecoveryproject.com/rehab-blog/high-eyes/ . The condition is usually short-lived - from 30 minutes to several hours. To soften the effect, you can use eye drops, make a cold compress on the eyelids, or just drink more water - hydration helps reduce dryness and eye fatigue.
