Cannabis seeds
Cannabis seeds are the primary form of plant propagation and serve as the starting point for breeding, collecting, and scientific research. They have a thick, oval-shaped seed coat and can vary in size, color, and surface pattern. In the specialized field, seeds are classified by genetic type and the expected characteristics of the future plants, allowing them to be used according to specific goals and applications.
One key parameter is the seed category. Regular seeds contain a natural ratio of male and female phenotypes and are used where genetic research or the development of stable lines is important. Feminized seeds are created to produce predominantly female plants, which is convenient in conditions where predictability is required. Autoflowering seeds have the genetic property of developing in a specific cycle, regardless of external lighting conditions, and are therefore interesting for observing specific growth phases.
Seeds also differ in their genetic lineage: sativa, indica, and hybrid. These differences can affect growth characteristics, plant structure, aroma profile, and other traits important to breeders and specialists. Many modern seed banks and research institutions are developing new hybrids in an effort to improve plant resistance, stabilize genetic characteristics, and expand the diversity of available lines.
