Nhiều anh em sau khi xem kết quả miền Nam thứ 7 thấy không trúng là bỏ vé ngay. Tuy nhiên, tốt nhất vẫn nên giữ lại thêm một thời gian để dò lại nếu nghi ngờ mình nhìn nhầm số hoặc xem nhầm đài. Có trường hợp vé Bình Phước nhưng lại dò sang TP.HCM nên tưởng trượt, đến khi kiểm tra lại mới biết có trúng giải tám.
Nếu vé có trúng thưởng thì việc giữ gìn càng quan trọng hơn. Chẳng hạn bạn trúng giải nhì hoặc giải đặc biệt, vé phải còn nguyên vẹn, không bị rách, tẩy xóa hay mất góc thì mới đủ điều kiện làm thủ tục nhận thưởng theo quy định.
Ngay cả khi chắc chắn vé không trúng, nhiều người chơi lâu năm vẫn giữ lại vài ngày để đối chiếu với bảng kết quả hoặc thống kê các con số đã ra. Ví dụ thấy số 27 xuất hiện ở giải sáu tuần này, họ sẽ ghi chú lại để tham khảo khi soi cầu cho những kỳ quay tiếp theo.
