FPS is a useful way to understand how smoothly a computer handles real-time graphics, but average FPS does not always tell the complete story. Real-time FPS measurement can help identify changes in frame rate, sudden drops, and inconsistent performance during a graphical workload.

Factors such as resolution, graphics settings, background applications, hardware capability, and thermal conditions can all affect FPS. Comparing results under the same conditions can make it easier to understand which changes are improving or reducing performance.

I’m interested in hearing how others evaluate graphics performance. Do you mainly look at average FPS, frame-time consistency, or other measurements when testing a system?
