Grand Opening of Kenny Rogers Products
Stocking some of the Finest Capes & Shawls, Women's Aran Sweaters and Cardigans, Women's Hand-Knit Arans, Men's Accessories, Men’s Aran Sweaters and Cardigans, Men's Hand-Knit Arans, Men’s Authentic Irish Hats & Caps among others, the new store prides itself of rich history behind its name and products.
History and Fame
The iconic Irish sweater/Aran sweater takes its name from the trio of islands of the same name, Inish more, Inishmann, and Inisheer, just off the coast of County Galway, Ireland. The sweater gained popularity around the world in the 1930s and 40s. When Grace Kelly appeared in an Aran sweater on the cover of Vogue in the 1950s, this humble Irish sweater catapulted to iconic status cementing its reputation as an Irish design classic. In New York Village folk scene, the sweater’s fame spread further during the 1950s and 60s. This time the Irish folk music group The Clancy Brothers, friends of Bob Dylan, wore their Aran sweaters for their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in the early 1960s, introducing it to millions of American homes. Some famous fans included Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, and the ultra-cool Steve Mc Queen.
With their apparel, Kenny Rogers products are also looking to share the comparison between “Honu (Hawaiian Sea turtle) with Irish Celtic Knots,” the knitwear that represents luck, peace, and wisdom.
