I’d focus not on just finding an online forex course, but trying to choose something like mentorship. When you’re not just reading some textbook about forex, but you have a mentor who explains everything, shows it in practice, offers all kinds of tools and stuff. In short, trading mentorship. I had a good experience with WR Trading, and the mentors there set up the learning system really well, focusing on practice. There’s also a trading simulator and WR Trading calcularots you can keep using later. Of course, basic info like the difference between one platform and another is also included in the course.

If I take some forex course, they’ll explain the difference between brokers and platforms, right? I feel like at least for building that kind of base, it’s worth holding off on the first trades and focusing on learning. But only if the course is good.

Well, you got it right. When I started with forex, I was confused about this too, because when they say you need to pick both a broker and a platform like MT4 or MT5, or other options, it usually means that the same broker, like FBS for example, can offer several platform options at once.

Am I right that MT4 and MT5 are not brokers themselves, but more like platforms, tools, something through which I execute trades? It’s a bit hard for me to get the difference, because in articles they often write that you need to choose both a broker and a platform, and I always thought it was the same thing.
