Such purchases are the best case for checking different options. I sometimes visited https://anyvers.com/ and looked to see if there were any small action cameras or camera accessories on sale. If the model had decent photos, good seller reviews, and a reasonable price, I would take a chance. But before paying, I always asked the seller if there was a warranty, if I could return the item, or at least check it for damage after receiving it. If everything was "clean," I would order it; if I had any doubts, I would look in other stores. This way, you can get a nice gift for less money, but you should approach your choice with caution.

It's my friend's birthday soon — he's into photography and has been dreaming of a small action camera or camera accessories for a long time. But I'm not sure whether to order from the usual online stores or look for something cheaper — so I can stay within my budget and still make it a surprise. At the same time, I don't want the gift to be a "pig in a poke." Do you think "comparison platforms" work for such purchases?
