Billy John (1956billyjohn)
I got into betting on exact scores after realizing that just picking a winner didn’t give me any edge, especially when two evenly matched teams played. I’ve followed a couple of leagues for years, so I started noticing patterns in how teams scored or conceded in certain situations. One weekend I decided to try predicting the final score rather than the winner because the odds on a straight win were too low to bother with. I watched the teams’ last few matches, checked their form, injuries, and how aggressive they were in attack. I remember feeling nervous because even with all the research, a single goal could ruin the bet, but at the same time it felt more logical than just guessing a winner. After a few attempts, I started seeing that sticking to teams I know well made a big difference. I also learned to accept that missing a goal doesn’t mean I failed; it’s part of the process. Over time, focusing on the exact result rather than the outcome made the games more interesting and also taught me to think in probabilities rather than hopes.
