Why do favorites lose more often than expected?

It feels like betting on favorites should be safe but in reality they lose more often than I expect. Is it because bookmakers adjust odds knowing people prefer favorites? Do you think there is more value in underdogs over time? How do you decide when a favorite is still worth backing despite low odds?

I stopped blindly backing favorites years ago for that exact reason. The real growth is in finding "live" underdogs where the odds are inflated due to a team's reputation rather than their current form. It takes more research, but the payouts are way more rewarding over a long season. When I do stick with a favorite, it’s usually through a parlay on https://1xbet.com.gh/en just to boost the total odds a bit. Just make sure you aren't paying a "popularity tax" on those low-yield picks!
