Morris Packaging Leads the Sustainability Market
BLOOMINGTON, ILLIONIS -With its focus on sustainable materials, reduced waste in food distribution, and responsible use of energy, Morris Packaging is leading the flexible packaging industry, working one-on-one with clients to create eco-friendly packaging solutions with fast lead times to meet the growing market demand.
Morris Packaging, a company offering sustainable and flexible packaging solutions, has bagged another award for its sustainable practices. While announcing this, Brian Stein Wagner, EVP Business Development, said “We are committed to ensuring a clean earth and as leaders in the sustainability market, we will continue offering products with consideration to people and the environment.
Morris Packaging was the first to be named Best-in-Packaging Company by the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC).
As a member of the Pet Sustainability Coalition, the company completed the Positive Impact Accreditation Program, which verifies the measurement of how a company’s sustainability practices affect communities and the environment. In this category, which attracted many entrants, Morris Packaging emerged as the best, receiving the Best in Category–Packaging Supplier award.
The company has won other awards in the past from the acclaimed Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) for their sustainable large format bags with 30% recycled content. With this, Mr. Stein Wagner says they are contributing to a clean environment. He revealed that in 2020 alone, they have already diverted over 2 million pounds plus of plastics from landfills.
These awards prove that the company takes a holistic approach to sustainability, measuring not only sustainable packaging, but the sustainability of the entire governing body as well. Sustainability practices include tracking of carbon emissions, energy usage, water consumption, reclaiming ink solvents, employee wages, diversity, benefits, supplier accountability, waste reduction program, and more.
Morris Packaging has been awarded Safe Quality Food (SQF) 8.1 certification at both its production plants, at the Minneapolis, Minnesota location and Jefferson City, Missouri — the highest level in the SQF program. The certification comes from AIB International, a globally recognized standard for inspection where facilities must meet key requirements and prove their products are wholesome and safe.
Morris also reveals that the latest innovation coming from Morris Packaging is a new 50% post-consumer recycled (PCR) pouch which is expected to become an instant hit with customers, helping them to meet their sustainability goals and attain even lower landfill rates.
Morris Packaging is one of the country’s most acclaimed and accomplished minority owned businesses in the United States. As an MBE affiliation that started in 2013, Morris Packaging has grown tremendously over the years; a growth attributed to great customer service, commitment to sustainability practices, and a great belief in the power of collaborative relationships, transparency, and outstanding service.
Nobody wants green initiatives and sustainability more than I do, I can assure you,” says president and owner Jim Morris, a member of the Cherokee Nation. “My heritage speaks for itself in regard to that. We have the newest, most energy-efficient equipment with cutting-edge technology providing efficiencies to become an industry leader." The recognitions and awards they have received over the years all serve as great motivators for the company.
