I’ve been thinking about getting a new water heater too—how long did the whole installation process take for you, and were there any unexpected costs or issues that came up along the way?

Everything went surprisingly smoothly - about 2.5 hours from start to finish, including testing. They also got the permits through rebates for the TECH Clean heat pump water heater up to $5,700 plus utility rebates, which made it almost free for me. Check blog here: https://superbrothers.com/blog/tech-clean-california-rebates/ The only surprise was a minor upgrade: a drip tray and new seismic straps, which increased the cost of the work by about $200. But overall, no big surprises and zero out of pocket after the discounts.
