I first considered replacing the mirror completely, but the center was still in good condition and the damage was mostly around the perimeter. That made me look for a more targeted cosmetic solution. While researching how to fix a desilvering mirror, I realized that framing the damaged edges made more sense for my situation than removing the whole mirror. Once the border was covered, the overall appearance changed much more than I expected. The mirror felt finished again and the frame also gave the bathroom a more deliberate look. I liked solving the visible problem without creating unnecessary work elsewhere in the room.
