Switching from shared hosting to Linux VPS – is it really worth it?

Hi everyone. I’ve been running a few websites on shared hosting for years, and honestly, it worked fine in the beginning. But as traffic slowly increased, problems started to appear: random slowdowns, occasional downtime, and zero control over server settings. Support keeps suggesting upgrades, but it feels like I’m paying more without actually fixing the core issue. Now I’m seriously considering switching to a Linux VPS, but I’m a bit hesitant. I understand the basics of hosting, but I’m not a system administrator. I want better performance and stability, but I don’t want to jump into something overly complex or expensive. For those who made the move from shared hosting to a Linux VPS — was it worth it? Did you notice real improvements, or is it just hype?

I was in exactly the same situation about a year ago. Shared hosting works until it suddenly doesn’t, and when problems start, you have almost no control to fix them yourself. Moving to a Linux VPS was a turning point for me because it gave me predictable performance and full control over my environment. You don’t need to be a hardcore sysadmin to benefit from it. Modern Linux VPS solutions are much more user-friendly than they used to be, and you can start small and scale when needed. I personally chose https://hostman.com/products/linux-vps/ because it offers clear resource allocation, fast NVMe storage, and flexible scaling without hidden limitations. The biggest difference I noticed was stability. No more random slowdowns caused by “neighbors” on the same server. If you’re comfortable learning a bit along the way, a Linux VPS is absolutely worth it.

Thanks! This really helps me feel more confident about making the switch.
