New Zealand

I used an eSIM during my trip across both the North and South Islands, and overall it was very reliable. In cities and popular tourist areas, data speeds were strong enough for maps, messaging, and even short video calls. In smaller towns and while driving long stretches, coverage occasionally dropped, but that’s more about New Zealand’s geography than the eSIM itself. What helped was downloading offline maps in advance. I found it convenient not having to swap SIM cards, and setup was quick. I went with an option similar to https://toosim.com/esim-new-zealand because it connected automatically to local networks and felt consistent throughout most of the trip.

I’m planning a trip to New Zealand and trying to figure out the best way to stay connected without dealing with physical SIM cards. How reliable is using an eSIM across both the North and South Islands, especially in smaller towns or while driving long distances, and are data speeds generally good enough for navigation, messaging, and occasional video calls?
