Education is essential for any form of success or growth. It is the reason why many people spend years getting formal education and acquiring certificates. However, not everyone enjoys formal learning. The few who enjoy it still get scared once it is time for examinations.
Montessori education was devised as a solution to the problems of formal education. This development-focused style of learning does not emphasize competitions, grades, or exams. Schools that follow its form produce mature and socially competent students.
Montessori education allows children to learn the way they choose to learn. The teacher just has to guide their activities. Children from different backgrounds and ages gather in the classroom to learn while doing the things they love.
According to research in the United States, Montessori students perform better than their counterparts in regular schools. They also have exceptional behavioral and social skills compared to regular school students.
This style of education, as seen from the research, has its benefits, but it also has its disadvantages. Before you decide to take your child to a Montessori school, let’s give you a glimpse into the pros and cons of Montessori education.
Your child will benefit a lot from a Montessori education. Some of the advantages that your child would gain from Montessori education include;
1. Improves Social Interaction
Montessori education helps teach children to interact with children of various ages from an early age. It encourages peer-to-peer learning, which means children of different ages do several activities together. Your child will get to interact with other children, learning to accept and include others in activities.
2. Practical Learning Environment
Montessori schools are built to aid learning with lots of space and natural light. The beautiful environment helps the children focus on education. Learning aids and materials are also provided to coordinate the learning process and aid concentration.
3. Cultivates Love for Learning
Many students in regular schools don’t like learning. Montessori education corrects this attitude in students by developing a curiosity about the world and the people in it. It also allows the students to start learning from and with the things they already enjoy doing, which makes learning more fun.
Now, you know some of the reasons why this style of learning is right. But, let’s look into some of the challenges it poses.
Cons of Montessori Education
While Montessori education is quite excellent, there are some disadvantages to this type of education. We have examined some of them below.
1. Over – Independence
Students in a Montessori classroom learn how to be independent in learning and even in-class activities. The culture of independence can, however, become a bad thing as some students might never learn how to work with others in a team. Since most jobs require working with others, this culture might not be suitable for your child in the long run.
2. More Expensive
A Montessori school costs more than a regular school. You would hardly find one with an average tuition fee. The reasons for these high prices are understandable as Montessori education requires high-quality materials, expensively-trained teachers, and in-depth training. Ensure you can afford the costs before you take your child to a Montessori school.
3. Loose Curriculum and Intimidating Classroom Structure
While students are not allowed to do anything they like in a Montessori classroom, it does not have a fixed structure like a regular classroom. The loose curriculum that enables students to direct their learning means they might end up not paying attention to important subjects.
The flexible classroom structure might also be intimidating to some students as they don’t get the comfort of routine activities. Not all children will be able to learn in a Montessori classroom properly.
Montessori education has its benefits and disadvantages. You should ensure that your child will be able to enjoy the full benefits of learning in the environment and cope with the possible drawbacks. You will find resources to guide you on determining if it is ideal for your child online.

I want to do something to change my life and I have an idea: why not try engineering or study to become a marine auditor? In this regard, I am looking for what courses I can take. Is it possible to do this with some courses or does it have to be some full-time training over several years?

Now in today's world, you don't have to study full-time in some college or university to be able to work as an engineer or auditor as you say. I know that https://engineerscorner.in/career-after-the-sea-how-a-marine-engineer-can-become-a-ships-auditor/ courses can allow you to become what you want, and just go to the site and read more about it, and then maybe you will change your mind when you learn about your responsibilities.
