I'm going on a 6-month student exchange to Germany and I’m torn between getting a traditional SIM there or trying out an eSIM. Has anyone here used an eSIM for a long-term stay abroad?

For long stays, eSIM can be a good choice, especially if your phone supports multiple plans at once.

When I went to study in Berlin, I faced the same decision. I stumbled across https://esimplus.me/what-is-esim while researching options. The guide helped me understand how eSIMs work for longer stays. I was able to sign up with a local German provider that offered eSIM plans, and activation was instant. I didn’t even have to leave campus to get set up. Another benefit is that I could still use my home country’s number for 2FA and messages. For me, it felt safer and more flexible than dealing with physical SIM cards or prepaid shops. Perfect for students!
