Are security window films really worth installing?

I’ve had them for almost a year now, and they actually work. During a big storm, a branch hit my window, and the glass didn’t crack through — just a tiny mark. They also help a bit with privacy and UV protection, which I didn’t expect. If you’re unsure, maybe check window films yourself — look at the specs, compare brands, and see how they fit your needs before deciding.

People online are split — some say they’re worth every dollar, others think it’s overhyped. I’m really trying to figure out what’s true before investing.

I saw a video recently where someone tested protective window films, and it blew my mind how strong they were. The glass didn’t shatter at all, even after several hits. It got me thinking because my living room windows face the street, and I sometimes worry about break-ins or accidents. But are they really as good as they seem, or just an expensive extra layer?
