I was a devoted basketball fan for many years. I analyzed NBA stats, kept track of lineups, and followed trends. However, my passion for the sport gradually faded over the years. The constant "load management" of star players during the regular season and the heavy reliance on team dynamics killed my interest in analyzing the game. I wanted to find a new individual sport where the outcome depends solely on the preparation of two athletes and the pure mathematics of the matchup.   While searching for interesting sports analytics, I came across an article: https://tennisgrandstand.com/at-the-us-open-sports-betting-has-become-part-of-the-fan-experience/ . The author brilliantly demonstrated how modern tennis and betting integration have transformed the perception of the U.S. Open, turning Grand Slam tournaments into a constant stream of analysis, statistical metrics, and risk assessment. This article sparked my interest in tennis, so I decided to study its mathematical structure, including serve hold percentage, break point conversion rates, court surfaces (hard, clay, grass), and the differences between the ATP and WTA. I even considered placing a few bets to test my analytical models. In practice, however, many questions arise regarding variance. In five-set Grand Slam tournaments, favorites are more reliable, but the odds are modest. In ATP 500/1000 tournaments, where serving dominates, totals work better. On the WTA women’s tour, however, the high frequency of breaks creates insane volatility.   This raises the question: Which tennis matches and tournament categories are truly worth betting on in the long term? Is it better to focus on the more stable men’s ATP matches, or does the WTA also offer quality opportunities for value betting?
